15-Minute Consultation & Intake Process

Starting therapy is a big step, and I want to make sure you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way. I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can discuss your needs, explore how and if I can support you, and determine which service is the best fit. Whether you're seeking individual therapy, couples therapy, or Informed DBT Skills Training, this consultation is a great opportunity to ask questions and get to know how I work.

Should we determine we are a good fit for each other, the next step is to schedule an initial assessment, which is simple and thorough to ensure that we tailor our approach to your unique needs. During initial assessment, I’ll gather some background information, clarify your goals for therapy, and outline the next steps. I’m here to guide you through the process and ensure you feel supported as we begin this collaborative journey together.

If, after our consultation or initial assessment, it seems that we're not the best fit for each other, I will make every effort to help you understand what you might need moving forward and provide referrals to other professionals who may be a better match for your specific needs.

PSYPACT Provider Information

I am a licensed psychologist who is proud to be a PSYPACT (Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact) provider. This compact allows me to provide telepsychology services to patients across participating states, expanding access to mental health care for individuals who may be outside of my primary state of licensure.

What does this mean for you? If you are in a state that participates in PSYPACT, I can offer telehealth therapy services even if you’re not located in Florida. This allows greater flexibility in accessing care.

I’m committed to providing high-quality therapy, no matter where you are located, and the PSYPACT compact helps make that possible.

Insurance

I am currently in-network with Aetna and Optum plans including United HealthCare, Oxford, and Oscar plans as credentialed via Headway and Alma's insurance programs.

If using insurance, your financial responsibility depends on your specific plan as your coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company.

When reaching out to your insurance company to inquire about coverage for mental health services, here are some key questions to ask:

  1. Do you cover mental health services?
Start by confirming whether mental health services, such as therapy or counseling, are covered under your plan.

  2. What type of mental health services are covered?
Ask if individual therapy, couples therapy, or psychological testing is covered, and whether it includes telehealth options. This is important as I exclusively offer telehealth options.

  3. What are the coverage limits?
Inquire about the number of sessions or hours covered annually, as well as any restrictions on the types of services or providers.

  4. What is the co-pay or deductible for mental health services?
Understand the costs you will be responsible for, such as co-pays, deductibles, or coinsurance rates.

  5. Do I need a referral or pre-authorization?
Some insurance plans may require a referral from a primary care doctor or pre-authorization before starting therapy. Clarify this requirement if it applies to your plan.

  6. Are there any exclusions or limitations?
Ask about any exclusions, such as limitations on coverage for certain diagnoses or types of therapy.

Out-Of-Network

I may be out-of-network with your insurance company. In these cases, I am happy to provide a “superbill” each month with the information required by insurance companies for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement is dependent on out-of-network benefits and plan details.

If I am out-of-network with your insurance company then in addition to the above questions to better understand your coverage, I suggest that you ask your insurance company these additional questions:

  1. How do I file a claim for out-of-network services?
If your therapist is out-of-network, ask about the process for submitting claims for reimbursement, including what paperwork or documentation is needed.

  2. What is the billing process like?
Understand whether you will be billed directly, or if your therapist will handle submitting claims on your behalf.

Payment & Cancellation Policy

Payment is due at the time services are rendered. A valid credit card is required to be on file at all times. If you are using your insurance, Alma or Headway will collect your co-payment/co-insurance directly. Payments can be made via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). When using Alma or Headway, it is required that all patients be enrolled in their “autopay” feature.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24-hours advanced notice are subject to a $75 late-cancellation fee out of respect to other patients who may need that time slot. A $75 no-show fee also applies for any missed appointments without notice. Three consecutive late cancel or no-show appointments will result in the implementation of a therapy vacation as the attendance indicates this is not the right time for the patient to be participating in therapy. Patients are welcome to initiate services after six months.

Good Faith Estimate

As part of my commitment to transparency and ensuring you have clear expectations about the cost of therapy, I provide a Good Faith Estimate for all individuals who are uninsured or not using insurance to cover psychotherapy services. This estimate outlines the expected cost of services, including session fees and any other potential charges based on the services you will be receiving. It is provided to you upfront, so you can make informed decisions about your care.

The Good Faith Estimate is part of the No Surprises Act, a law designed to protect individuals from unexpected medical bills. It requires healthcare providers, including psychologists, to give you an estimate of costs for services before they are provided. The estimate will include details such as the cost per session, frequency of sessions, and any additional fees that may apply. While actual costs may vary depending on the specifics of your treatment, this estimate helps you plan for your therapy sessions without surprise charges.

If you have any questions or would like further clarification about your Good Faith Estimate, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to discuss the details with you and ensure you feel confident and informed about your treatment costs. You can ask about the estimate during your free consultation or contact me directly to learn more.
