Frequently Asked Questions

1. What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll discuss your goals for therapy, any challenges you’re facing, and your background. This session helps me understand how I can best support you and what the most effective treatment plan will be. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions about the therapy process.

2. What is telehealth, and how does it work?
Telehealth allows you to participate in therapy from any safe and confidential space through secure video sessions. It’s a convenient option for those who may have difficulty attending in-person sessions due to time, location, or mobility constraints. During a telehealth session, we will meet virtually in a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. Telehealth sessions are just as effective as in-person therapy, and many patients find them to be a flexible and convenient way to receive support.

3. How long are therapy sessions, and how often will I need to come?
Sessions typically last 45 minutes. The frequency of sessions depends on your needs and goals. Typically, patients start with weekly sessions and adjust as progress is made. We will discuss the best plan for you during your initial assessment. Psychologists have terrible business models — it’s our goal to literally work ourselves out of a job!

4. How can I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment by emailing, calling, or filling out the contact form on my website. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and ensure we're a good fit before moving forward with therapy.

5. What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
I understand that life happens, and you may need to reschedule. I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If you miss an appointment without giving adequate notice, there is a $75 cancellation fee.

6. Are therapy sessions confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapy process. I adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines, including compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). There are, however, some legal exceptions to confidentiality (such as imminent harm or court orders), which will be discussed with you during our initial assessment.

7. How do I know if therapy is working?
The progress in therapy depends on many factors, including your engagement in the process and the goals we set together. We’ll regularly check in on your progress and make adjustments to our approach as needed. If at any point you feel that therapy isn’t helping, please don’t hesitate to let me know—we’ll work together to adjust the approach or explore other options.

8. What should I do if I feel therapy isn’t the right fit for me?
It’s important that you feel comfortable and supported in therapy. If at any point you feel that therapy isn’t a good fit, I encourage you to discuss it with me. I’m here to help you find the right support, whether it’s adjusting the approach or offering referrals to other professionals who may be a better match.

9. How do I get started with therapy?
You can begin by scheduling a free 15-minute consultation, where we’ll talk about your needs, your goals, and how I can best support you. After that, we’ll schedule an initial assessment to dive deeper into your background and set up a plan for moving forward.

If you have additional questions or would like more information, feel free to contact me directly. I’m here to help and look forward to supporting you on your journey.
